It takes a special kind of patience and aura to allow a shy and timid person to speak their truth. The truths within us are scary for most but for those who do not let anyone in, it is a hurdle that requires training and skill to jump over.
She shook her head no on the other side of our video conference after I asked her if she had any questions for me. It’s been a month since we last saw each other. A month where it felt like the longest weekend ever as the entire world watched the spread of the coronavirus. The spread was as smooth as warm, melted butter coating every crevice and hole of toasted English muffins. The crevices our countries, the holes our souls.
I noticed how confident Cait felt and looked at me as she informed me of the decrease of the nosebleeds. Nosebleeds that brought her back to her childhood where they started, a monthly occurrence and just like that, gone.
“How does that make you feel?” I asked Cait.
“It’s good,” she giggled and retreated into her shell. From the outside, she looked like a small, timid soul but when I looked at her, all I could see was her animal spirit. The lion inside of her was ready to come out and make itself known, my job was to guide her.
